Dr. Sawyer has been an educator for over twenty years. She is a National Board certified teacher; in addition, she has certifications in the following areas: English as a Second Language, Academically Gifted, K-6, Middle School Language Arts, Middle School Social Studies, and principal/supervision (K-12).  

 

Her parents always stressed integrity and education. Both of her parents were educators, and her father was an interim school administrator during his early years. 

 

Dr. Sawyer has three younger sisters, employed in the fields of education, social work, and business/computer science.
